Had I Been Homer, I Had Been Wronged

Had I Been Homer, I Had Been Wronged

Invention energizes genius
Sensuality evokes the whore
Solemnity confirms the hangman

Do joy and grace attend the bridegroom or
Pomp and pageantry accompany the hero,
then
Shall that goliath Pullyfemurs come greet me-

Yet now, as with cataracts corrected
                Of an inner central eye,
the Gulf sky here's as blue as bluest sapphire,
                   as the Aegean's deepest realm:

                       therefore,
heel Scylla, yield Charybdis!
