Transparent and opaque

The cleanest glass is at once the clearest and
 the most reflective,
So that the inquisitive and peering eye
 sees well the drama playing out behind itself
But the far side of that glass
 remains a mystery.
That is the devil’s secret.
 And hard it is to know another’s soul.
So some seeming most transparent
 Are most opaque.
