March Breeze

March Breeze

passing into Spring
Winter
By one tenacious loop
Of a plastic grocery sack
Clutches a naked plum tree branch Twisting, billowing, spinning
Cursing and
snapping
Then
is driven into snowmelt-swollen ditchwater
Rushing away with seasons
A budding plum tree I say
Convinced of spring

  1. I have loved this poem from the first time I read it. What a joy to read it again tonight … finally found how to navigate your website.
